Familiar choices for your daily snacks and meals

Isn’t it worth it to hold onto the things we grew up on and miss from back home? Humans are, after all, creatures of habit. Our days are defined by the unique experiences every day brings, but our daily food choices should always include our favorite snacks, beverages and grocery items from back in Jamaica and the Caribbean. For the ones that landed in Canada and found it difficult to find simplest of items I prefer for snacking or preparing a meal, this journey is specifically for you.

Whether you come to Canada for school, are here temporarily for tourism or work, or have immigrated permanently, if you don't have a strong support system it will be difficult knowing where to find your favorite Jamaican and Caribbean items. The distance of select stores that may carry somewhat of a selection of these items, coupled with the country's usual less than ideal weather makes an online shopping experience with fast delivery times a necessity.

 

 

 

Give a helping hand where you can

You never know what situations are like until you live it and I have first hand knowledge of how our unique Caribbean palette makes it difficult to feel at home in a new country. This is the first of two reasons I decided to explore an affordable and convenient option of getting all the familiar tastes from the islands.

The second reason is based on discussions with friends and family about the impact a culture of immigration has had on us as a people, and how we can look out for each other.

Most of us has had some experience with receiving items from a barrel or a little token when a family member or close friend returns from abroad. It's usually the case where they are living a modest life but still think to help out where they can.
